USB hard disks dont work and there are "features" which make your machine hang during boot waiting for keyboard inputs. If i ever meet the developer who decided that was a good idea on a server he'll wish he'd never been born.A realistic option is to switch to Debian Server. Lucid server is very buggy. The downgrading can be done the clean installation. But as far the clean installation will remove all of your files, but it you select the installation path different then the system path and backup all your profiles and sources.lst, apt-files then this can be called a bit downgrade. ^ As far you know there is no downgrade or any sort of option.
